IT Technician/linux systems administrator

We wish to recruit an IT technician who has experience in the administration of Linux enterprise servers, Linux and Microsoft Windows PCs and IT networking equipment.

Roles and Responsability

 

  • Administration of Linux operating system based servers. Includes user account management, software installation, email management, website management, virtual machine management, problem diagnosis and resolution.
  • Develop applications that demonstrate and validate new embedded chipsets and boards.
  • Code in C, C++, PHP, Python ... and sometimes assembler and machine code!
  • Debug code at run-time using JTAG or ITP debuggers.
  • Profile and optimize the run-time performance of code.
  • Create and execute automated unit test, integration test and system test scripts.
  • Ensure software meets functional, performance and any standards-based expectation

 

 

Essential Skills required

 

  • Administration of Linux operating system based enterprise servers, e.g. Debian, Ubuntu.
  • Administration of virtualisation packages and virtual machines, e.g. VirtualBox and KVM.IT networking equipment configuration and installation.
  • Linux shell script coding, e.g. bash, awk, sed.
  • Database management, e.g. MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB.
  • Proven knowledge of data networking protocols, e.g. IP, TCP, UDP, SIP, RTP, Ethernet and WiFi.
  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in a Computer Systems or Information Technology type discipline or a professional qualification such as CCNA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A resolute problem solver that strives to instantly diagnose and resolve networking issues.
  • Experience in the use of customer support ticketing systems.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, verbal and written.
  • A proactive self-starter that works well with sales teams, engineering teams and customers.

 

 

Advantageous Skills

 

  • HTML, PHP, Python, Ruby or Java script development.
  • VPN configuration including knowledge of protocols such as IPsec, SSL and SSH.
  • Network traffic shaping.
